One of the biggest clubs in the world are reportedly eyeing a move for a Manchester City star this summer, with Real Madrid willing to pay £87m to sign him.
Man City players who could leave this summer
It has been a summer of big change at the Etihad, with Pep Guardiola’s squad in need of being freshened up, following a tired-looking 2024/25 season. Kyle Walker and Kevin De Bruyne are among those to have left City after memorable spells at the club, and now Ederson and Ilkay Gundogan could also be heading out of the exit door.
That’s according to an update from journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, who says the pair could now both seal moves to Turkish giants Galatasaray this summer.
“Okan Buruk wants a goalkeeper with good feet from the beginning. Ederson is one of the best players in that description. The player rejected Napoli. He wants to come to Galatasaray. His asking salary is less than €10m. The figure Manchester City wants is not high. If Galatasaray sign Ederson, Manchester City are ready to let him go. Ilkay Gundogan is ready for the squad, he wants to come to Galatasaray. Galatasaray haven’t been able to make a comeback yet because they are trying to get Osimhen done first and then the goalkeeper.”
Man City at risk of losing Rodri to Madrid
Now, reports in Spain [via Sport Witness] claim that Real Madrid are interested in signing Manchester City superstar Rodri this summer.
The Spanish giants “really like” the 29-year-old and would be willing to pay as much as £87m for services, but they also accept that it won’t be an easy deal to get over the line. He is seen as an exception when it comes to spending big, such is his ability.
The importance of Rodri for City couldn’t have been highlighted more last season, with the midfielder’s ACL injury early in the campaign playing a massive role in their Premier League title defence going out in a whimper.
He is a Ballon d’Or winner, which is a remarkable achievement, and arguably Europe’s most influential midfielder, with Guardiola knowing full well how disastrous losing him would be, calling him “irreplaceable” in the recent past.
“Rodri is irreplaceable because he has something difficult to find, but not just here (at City), all around the world. If you say, ‘OK Pep, you have money to buy a player like Rodri’. There’s not one in the market, he’s really, really good.”
Pep now demands Man City sign £50m star ASAP, confident deal could be done
The Manchester City boss has made it clear he wants the board to bring in a “world-class” player.

Granted, Rodri is now 29 years of age and there is the risk that he may not quite be the player of old after such a serious injury, but selling him this summer still makes no sense whatsoever. If he returns to top form, along with Erling Haaland, he has the quality and experience to inspire City to yet another league title in 2025/26.
